School Profile

The Saanich International Student Program [ SISP ] in Greater Victoria on the beautiful west coast of British Columbia enjoys the finest weather in all of Canada, as well as a high quality standard of living. Saanich is a safe and welcoming community with breathtaking scenery, the spectacular Pacific Ocean, mountains, beaches, parks and rainforests. Outdoor activities can be enjoyed all year round in this destination area.

SISP’s mission statement is to “Improve the World Through Global Connections” and the school district strives to meet this goal by offering high quality academic courses of study and specialized programs to explore. Among these programs are courses in Global Education, Advanced Placement(AP), International Baccalaureate(IB), High level Sciences and Math, STEAM (Science Technology Engineering, Arts and Math) Focus courses in the Fine and Performing Arts, Outdoor Education, Technical courses in the Trades including Chef’s training, Wood, Metal, Automotive, and Drafting, and an Institute of Marine studies.

Saanich also offers several Sports Academies including Academies in Golf, Judo, Ice Hockey, Sailing, Climbing, Rowing, Lacrosse, Golf, Rugby and Aquatics.

Key to this successful international program is the high level of student support the district provides for their SISP students. Counselor Advisors dedicated to working with SISP students manage the student’s educational programming and their emotional needs. ESL classes are provided for students wishing to improve their level of English.

District homestay team provide ongoing monitoring of the students in Saanich homes. Home stay families are selected who have a keen interest in other cultures, an open and respectful attitude towards others, and a willingness to integrate a young person into their home.
